Spring Fever!

Mountdream April 5th, 2007

Na and I have spring fever! We have been doing a lot of outside tasks– raking, mowing, fertilizing, and over seeding the lawn :)

We took our first trip to the Denver Botanical Gardens and enjoyed browsing through the cactus and succulent show. There were some beautiful flowers in the outside gardens (early risers).

Cactus & Succulent Show

A few weeks ago we put up a new garden shed and got rid of the old metal one that was under the carport. We've added a nice stone entrance to it, and have the compostor up and running!

We also took a trip with the Serra group to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. It actually borders the road to the airport (we had no idea!) which explains why we see so much wildlife when driving on Pena Blvd. It looks rather desolate at the Arsenal, but there was a lot of wildlife running, and flying, around. We would love to go back when the grass is green, and the scenery is more favorable. There are some large lakes with lots of water fowl that migrate through. We were told that last year there were hundreds of White Pelicans!

Ok, sometimes I have strange curiosities. For instance my interest in animal scat. Gross, I know. But I think it's an interesting way of looking into the animals life. I came across an interesting "pile" of scat while at the arsenal. It looks like a possible Haron's, but what is all the fur from? There's a lot of crawdad (crayfish) shells in it, too. What could have done this? I found it on the walking bridge, over the little pond.

So, we are now getting ready for the "Arctic Blast" that is coming our way. We welcome the rain, but snow too? Haven't we've had enough this winter? I'm hoping that the edge scoots a bit more to the east (sorry Mom & John) and misses us.

Tchau for now Kiss
