Fun Day at the Nursery

Mountdream February 24th, 2008

Na and I headed to Echter's Nursery Saturday! It has to be one of the most beautiful nurseries that we've every been to.

We had a mission: check out the Hindu Rope Plants (type of Hoya) that were on sale. We found a beautiful plant, and hung it in our sunroom.

Na found the discount rack (she is good at that!) and was able to find a huge Christmas Cactus at 50% off the price.

So, after roaming around the nursery we came home and began moving the mulch around the front garden. All the early bloomers are poking through the soil– Hyacinth and Crocuses. Some of the perennials are showing green growth around the ground, too.

Thank goodness the grass in the backyard is starting to turn green again! You have no idea how grassy the house gets after a warm day with the dogs and cats playing in the yard. We are ready for fresh green grass!

I'm off to Crown Hill with the goldens.

Much love,
Sara & Na

Garden Plans

Mountdream February 20th, 2008

We’ve found a gardening group through meetup.com. The first meeting was at Denver Botanical Garden. We met some very nice people and chatted about what the group would like to discuss during the meetings. It was very productive and interesting! Na and I are looking forward to learning and sharing gardening ideas.

Next month we will be pouring over seed/plant catalogs. I’ll bring all of my pictures and garden info that I’ve been collecting over the past few years in hopes of getting ideas for this coming year. I think that once spring/summer is here we will even try and meet at some of the members homes!

Natasha has finished up all of our freelance work last week. I hope that a week of quiet time is not a forecast of what is to come. Advertising is one of the first things cut when there is talk of a slow economy.

Let’s all remember: Positive thoughts, positive results!

Poor Cheyenne twisted his leg last Sunday. We’ve been feeding him asprin and using a heating pad on his leg. We thought he was getting better yesterday—but then he chased a squirrel! He came back in limping. Poor pup. Send healing thoughts his way…

Our 5 year anniversary is coming up March 1! JOY! Any ideas as to what we should do? We were thinking about going out to the Ethiopian restaurant. Want to join us Mom and John? HA!

All for now everyone!

Easier blogging application!

Mountdream February 8th, 2008

Wow! I found an easier way to blog :)  Maybe I'll be more likely to input new entries now.

Six months have past since our last entry and not much has changed. We are both still working away during the week, and enjoying the weekends as much as we can.

Natasha is sporting a new hairdo—short! She looks as beautiful as ever.

Last weekend we added some blond highlights to my hair—ha! I was getting tired of the same old thing. Ok, I thought it would hide those darn gray hairs.

I've been working on redesigning the bathroom. We've gone from doing the basics, to a total high-end redo, and now back to a total redo but staying within a budget. Darn recession fears! I'm trying to design around the style of the house, which will have a touch of retro (nice lines and not to heavy) but with the latest products and colors. Hopefully it will be a timeless look. The most difficult part will be finding the right size vanity for the narrow space. We'll post before and after pictures.

Natasha and I have Spring fever already. We have been thinking about the garden and all the fresh vegetables that we want to plant. We'll be moving things around this year, and planting a second plot down at the community garden. Any ideas on fun plants let us know (they have to be easy to grow). The list thus far: tomato, zucchini, cucumber, pumpkin, acorn squash, spaghetti squash, butternut squash.

All for now—think sunshine and warmer temps!
