Hard work!

Mountdream April 8th, 2008

We spent the weekend tilling and leveling out the gardens. Goodness, that takes a lot of work! The two areas look much nicer now. Na will post a picture in a bit. The buds on the pear tree are starting to show, and the apple trees are beginning to green.

Soon to be bird/flower area

We are finalizing the patio plans. I've been working on the design for over the past year (or so)—you know me, I can't plan enough! We've found a very nice young man to help with the hard part (leveling, putting in the base, taking out the old concrete) Here are the plans so far…

New patio to be put in June/July.

And here are the passion fruits seedlings!

I've an acupuncture appointment tonight—to much hard work :)

Love to all,
Sara & Na

Let’s move some soil!

Mountdream April 3rd, 2008

The warm weekends have been creeping up on us! :)

We spent last weekend pulling out the left over shrub stubs (hard work!), and this weekend we are going to till the soil and define the new gardens.

Remember when…

Working hard taking out the shrubs.

Everything pulled out!

We've planted cold lettuce in our small greenhouse, and the seeds are beginning to grow! We've heard that Colorado is a great place to grow lettuce in pots. Supposedly we can get up to three cuttings from each plant.

The early spring bulbs have bloomed, and the long row of tulips that we planted are beginning to come up, too. Looking forward to all the beautiful flowers :)  We have some plans on paper for the back gardens– Na came up with the idea to have a bird sanctuary in the corner. I think it sounds like a good idea. Any ideas as to what kind of bushes (tall is ok) and other plants/flowers we might plant?

All for now.
Much love,

Sara & Na

Fun Day at the Nursery

Mountdream February 24th, 2008

Na and I headed to Echter's Nursery Saturday! It has to be one of the most beautiful nurseries that we've every been to.

We had a mission: check out the Hindu Rope Plants (type of Hoya) that were on sale. We found a beautiful plant, and hung it in our sunroom.

Na found the discount rack (she is good at that!) and was able to find a huge Christmas Cactus at 50% off the price.

So, after roaming around the nursery we came home and began moving the mulch around the front garden. All the early bloomers are poking through the soil– Hyacinth and Crocuses. Some of the perennials are showing green growth around the ground, too.

Thank goodness the grass in the backyard is starting to turn green again! You have no idea how grassy the house gets after a warm day with the dogs and cats playing in the yard. We are ready for fresh green grass!

I'm off to Crown Hill with the goldens.

Much love,
Sara & Na
